Illustrated home jobs: a woman painting a window frame, a dripping tap marked This weekend, and a fence marked Next up. A bright green Done tick celebrates finishing.

Spot it

That dripping tap. The window frame. Take a photo before you forget.

A LITTLE HELP. A LOT LESS EXPLAINING.

Share. Send. Get notified.

Share what needs doing. Send photos and a clear brief to your partner, family or tradie. Set a reminder and get notified on your iPhone when it’s time to tackle the job.

Four illustrated home-job moments: a man photographs a window repair, a woman sends details, another woman shares a garden-gate job, and a tradesperson marks a job done.
AI-created promotional scenes. Share a copy, not a live-synced list. Notifications are your scheduled reminders, not automatic updates from recipients.

A PRACTICAL PHOTO-TO-BRIEF GUIDE

Explain the small job. Keep the useful details.

A close-up helps, but it rarely tells the whole story. Here is a fictional loose-cupboard-handle example you can adapt in Fixr, plus a checklist for a clearer handover.

1. Take three useful photos

  1. Context: the whole cupboard, so the recipient knows which door you mean.
  2. Detail: the loose handle and its visible fixing, in focus and well lit.
  3. Another angle: the inside of the door, only if it is safely visible without dismantling anything.

Fixr supports up to three photos per task. Avoid faces, addresses and paperwork in the background. Describe only what you can see; a photo cannot establish the cause or safety of a fault.

See how a photo appears beside the brief

2. Make one job, not a vague list

Create a task with a recognisable title. Attach the photos and put the location, observation and requested next step in its notes. Add it to a project list if useful. Leave uncertain dates unset rather than guessing.

Step 2: the task keeps its location and notes together. Current App Store still with promotional artwork; this separate Bathroom Tiles sample is not the cupboard example. Select to enlarge.

3. Preview, then choose what to send

Open the job’s sharing options and preview the brief. Check the wording and included photos. Choose PDF, image cards or text, then choose your recipient in the iPhone share sheet. Sending is your action, not an automatic request to a tradesperson.

A shared brief is a copy. If the job changes, send a revised copy; the earlier file does not update.

Steps 1 and 3: the preview brings notes and a photo together before sharing. Current App Store still with promotional artwork; a separate sample, not footage or an export of the cupboard example. Select to enlarge.

Kitchen cupboard — loose handle

Where
Kitchen, lower cupboard beside the sink; right-hand door.
What I noticed
The handle moves when I pull it. I first noticed it this week. I do not know whether the fixing or the handle needs replacing.
Photos attached
1: whole cupboard. 2: handle close-up. 3: visible inside fixing.
Next step requested
Please let me know whether you need to inspect it in person and what other details would help.
Timing and access
No date agreed. Please contact me to arrange access; do not include keys or access codes in the brief.

Before you share

  • Can someone identify the exact job?
  • Are facts separate from guesses?
  • Are all three photos useful and readable?
  • Is the next step clear?
  • Have you removed private details?
  • Have you checked the recipient and kept a copy?

Fixr organises your observations. It does not procure quotes, assess safety or replace a professional inspection. For a potentially hazardous job, seek appropriate professional help rather than investigating it for a photo.

What could you use Fixr for?

Fictional examples to help you plan your own list. Add one job for each observation, with its photos and notes, then preview the copy you want to share.

Fictional illustration: Get a home repair quoteGet a home repair quoteExplore this example

Sam walks around the house and collects three jobs for a tradesperson.

  • Kitchen cupboard: Door drops when opened. Please quote to repair or replace the hinge.
  • Leaking tap: Tap drips after it is turned off. Please assess and quote for repair.
  • Damaged fence: Please assess this damaged section and include repair options in the quote.
Read the sample message

Please review these three jobs and advise your availability and quote. Let me know if a visit is needed.

Add your own photos and details, then preview a copy before choosing how to share it.

Fictional illustration: Share the weekend jobsShare the weekend jobsExplore this example

Alex sends her partner Jamie a short list of the household jobs they discussed.

  • Gate latch: The gate is not latching easily. Can we look at it together this weekend?
  • Loose handle: This is the handle we discussed tightening.
  • Garden light: This light did not come on last night. Let's decide who to ask to check it.
Read the sample message

Here are the three things we discussed, with photos so you can see which ones.

Sharing sends a copy, not a live shared list. You stay in control of sending it.

Fictional illustration: Ask about a used carAsk about a used carExplore this example

Taylor records questions during a car viewing to discuss with a mechanic or knowledgeable friend.

  • Front wheel arch: Does this look worth checking in person?
  • Front tyre: Please assess the tyre and possible causes during an inspection.
  • Dashboard: This was visible during the viewing; what checks should I arrange?
Read the sample message

These are my observations, not a mechanical inspection. What should I ask the seller, and can we arrange an inspection?

Photos and notes cannot confirm roadworthiness or reveal hidden faults. Arrange a professional inspection when needed.

Fictional illustration: Record handover questionsRecord handover questionsExplore this example

Morgan walks through a new home and collects observations to discuss with the builder or inspector.

  • Skirting gap: Visible gap at the bedroom skirting. Please inspect and advise.
  • Chipped tile: Visible chip near the tile edge. Please review.
  • Catching door: The door caught when opened during the walkthrough. Please check the fit.
Read the sample message

Please review these observations and confirm the next steps for each item.

This is a record of questions, not a certified building or defect inspection.

Fictional illustration: Record a rental move-inRecord a rental move-inExplore this example

Casey records the property's visible condition before unpacking, to share with the property manager alongside the entry condition report.

  • Floor scratches: Existing floor scratches observed at move-in beside the living room doorway.
  • Marked wall: Existing wall marks observed at move-in.
  • Bedroom blind: Observed at move-in, lower section.
Read the sample message

Please keep these photos and notes with the entry condition report. These observations were recorded at move-in.

Support the official condition report; this does not guarantee bond recovery. Keep original photos and a saved shared copy separately. Photo-added dates are not verified capture times.

Illustrations and observations are fictional examples. Sharing sends a copy, not a live-synced list. Review personal details and photos before sending.
